Jean Feeney
Born in York, Father Scottish/French, Mother Scottish/Welsh. Educated in Convent Grammar Schools in Chester and then in Hertfordshire. Although concentrated on the Sciences, it was notable that my Art grades were significantly higher. Married in 1971, two daughters. Moved to Scotland in 1990. Bought watercolour sets for both daughters Christmas 1990. Neither daughter interested in painting but I have been trying to paint most days. I have a back injury which can incapacitate me for large amounts of time, but recently I have learned how to cope with the pain to such an extent that I manage to paint most days. Just as well really, because painting is like a drug to me …. and hence serious withdrawal symptoms when I can’t get to my easel.
At the moment my studio is an old, run-down watermill. It is incredibly romantic but doesn’t have much in the way of mod cons! It does however, have running water during the winter - down the walls.
